![]() ![]() Crossover ports a Windows program and wraps it to be recognized as a Mac ware. However, Crossover is light on the system and it doesn't need to be on all the time unlike Fusion and Parallels. These apps really deliver, but at a cost in system efficiency, and DAWs and other audio-related apps are suckers for computing power. There are several sandboxing programs that let you run Windows within Mac, being the key players Parallels Desktop and VMware Fusion. Rebooting into Bootcamp is a task we'd rather avoid. When it comes to Windows-based cracks, we think it twice. It gives you options for handling duped files and the like. And this awesome app does it automatically. This program has two uses: Either it brings together all the files of different folders to a single folder (which we need in this case), or it spreads one file across many folders. However, for the end user, unpacking stuff is tedious and time consuming, especially when you are desperate waiting to test out your new piece of software, right? Enter TBMFM. zip files, which optimize file transfer and/or replacement should a file be corrupted. Scene releases come packed in many small. It's only one drag-and-drop window and the button to reset. I have never tried it, but people say Permissions Reset is simpler to use. Unlike the disk repair utility that comes in your operating system, which repairs permissions for optimal operation of your Mac, this freebie sets just the troublesome app ready for install/use. This free app does just that on a file basis. If the app you downloaded or copied from another Mac doesn't run, chances are permissions of that file need repair. The four apps I'm going to list here are my personal toolset and they help me get back to music work ASAP. Additionally, Mac users have trouble sometimes with cracks that run on Windows only. Since the unrarring and par verify/repair are mainly sequential, not random, disk operations I assume having higher sequential throughput is of greater influence on performance that higher I/O.Today I want to lead your attention to some apps that optimize installing software that is in beta testing, like some of the goodies we see at AudioZ, or when cracks are not complete. ![]() I also have two Samsung F1 640GB (7200rpm) spare drives, but those "only" have a 320gb platter, while the F2 has a 500GB platter. It's an Arrendale based CPU on a Intel H55 motherboard, so it's got plenty of power. However I'm not sure if extracting to the protected array directly would be faster than extracting to the same cache drive and moving the files later.Īlso, to be pedantic, you do not unpar. You also want to extract the files to a different drive than where you're reading from. To maximize performance, you want fast drives for reading (par verify and repair). If you're running on an Intel Atom CPU or ancient or low end Intel or AMD CPUs (P4/Athlon/Semperon) then it will take a long time. Those tasks, par, repair, and extract, are mostly bound by two major bottlenecks. Could I see a speed increase if I replace the cache disk with a 7200rpm version? And would it be faster to extract the finished download directly to the protected array, instead of to the cache disk? At this moment, unpar+repair+unrar takes WAY longer than downloading it. When finished with par-checking, the archives are extracted on the same disk. I have a Samsung F2 500GB (5400rpm) setup as a cache disk and all temporary files are written to it. Download speeds are as expected (12.5 MB/s on a 120 MBit connection), but repairing and unrarring/unzipping can be dreadfully slow. I have had SabNZBd running for a while now (currently at 0.5.3) and it's working great. Thanks again! im slowly getting it so its perfect for what i want it to do. I.e if its a movie then to download and complete on the cache drive, then auto move it into the movies folder on disk1? Is there a way of using the firefox tool to download the nzb then once downloaded/parred and extracted on the cache drive to then move it automatically to its desired folder? My next question is! when the file downloads and completes, it saves it on the cache drive but then it auto moves it onto the root of disk2. Ive just grabbed the firefox add in which sends the nzb to unraid for download My desktop computer is windows and I use sabnzbd gadget which allows me to dock my queu to the desktop, monitor the downloads and drag and drop NZB to the gadget to sab. You can either have a firefox or chrome plugin that sends the nzb directly to Sab, or you can create a black hole that is being monitored by SAB periodically. This has already been answered in this thread. Also, say i would like to download another another nzb (not tv related), i grab the nzb file, but what do i do with it so sabnzb on my unraid server opens it and starts to download it?
